Dear Future Me,
I hope you’re doing well. You always open your emails like this when writing to someone else, so now I’m writing it to you. You’re probably halfway through your summer vacation; it's almost your first year of college, right? How do you feel right now? Which college are you attending? What’s your major?
Right now, I’m going through a kind of sad moment. Tears are dripping from my eyes, flowing down my face, and gathering at my collarbone. But I can’t quite figure out why I’m crying. I can’t even tell what I’m feeling. I looked it up online, and it says this might be something called “dissociation.”
I guess pretending the "bad" emotions aren’t there and trying to hide them isn’t a good way to handle this. So I’m trying to embrace all of my emotions now. I’ve been talking with AI and taking it step by step to get back in control of myself again.
Enough about 17-year-old me, lol.
How does it feel to be an adult? I mean, according to all my friends who’ve already turned 18, they say it doesn’t feel much different. You’ve started paying taxes, right? Did those financial classes in high school help? Are you planning to live on your own, or are you staying with Mom and Dad?
How are Mom and Dad, by the way? Are they with you? Can you give them a hug for me, please, and tell them I love them?
And don’t forget to love yourself too! At the very least, your 17-year-old self will love you forever.
Oh, and just a reminder, I really want to go to the 2028 Olympics and volunteer there. Have you signed up yet? What’s your job?
I mean… one year isn’t that long, really. But I’ve grown so much this year to get ready to turn 18. I read eight books this year! Remember? For AP Lang, hahaha. And I’m still going, for my own goals and interests.
Am I someone who, if I saw you now, I’d say, “Wow”?

I’m really using a lot of question marks here, haha. I’m just so curious about what happened in the future, you know?
Anyway, I need to get back to my economics summer school and other summer homework now. See you in a year!
